We’re thrilled to share the success of our annual Reharvest Memphis event – a remarkable evening dedicated to championing sustainability and reducing food waste in our Memphis community. The night couldn’t have been more perfect at Beale Street Landing, with a stunning backdrop of the Mississippi River and the illuminated Memphis bridge.
Local PGF-certified chefs showcased their incredible talents by crafting innovative hors d’oeuvres from surplus food, provided in part by the Mid-South Food Bank. Attendees were offered complimentary food and beverages and had the opportunity to engage with these chefs, discovering firsthand the sustainable practices integrated into their dishes and restaurants.
Our event spotlighted an impressive lineup of local chefs:
- Don Gaines and Stephanie Bland from LuLu’s Cafe and Bakery
- Sarah Cai and Arturo Leighton from Good Fortune Company
- Daishu McGriff from Shroomlicious Meals
- Becky Githinji and Shane Wigginton from Tamboli’s Pasta + Pizza
- David Self from Paper Plate Pavilion
Reharvest Memphis is a celebration for all food enthusiasts – an evening that not only offered unwavering support for our local restaurants but also enlightened attendees on their pivotal role in driving sustainability and reducing food waste in our city. At the end of the event, we donated surplus food to Room in the Inn and successfully diverted 91 percent of waste away from landfills!
We are grateful for our vendors DJ Crystal Mercedes, who spun some groovy tunes, and mobile Memphis bartending service, Highball, who served an array of drinks, including the crowd-favorite fall-time sangria.
Thank you for being part of this impactful event. We’re excited to continue to work with you on our journey toward a more sustainable future!
