On November 14, 2024, Project Green Fork hosted its highly anticipated annual fundraiser, Reharvest Memphis, at the vibrant Collage Dance Collective. This unique, immersive event brought together sustainability enthusiasts, local chefs, and community members for an unforgettable evening dedicated to reducing food waste and celebrating the art of creative cuisine.
A feast of flavor and sustainability
Reharvest Memphis is a celebration of the delicious connections between sustainability and food. This year’s event highlighted the power of food rescue, with talented chefs from crafting mouthwatering hors d’oeuvres using surplus ingredients donated by Mid-South Food Bank, Cordelia’s Market, and Alpha Omega Veteran Services. The event underscored PGF’s mission to cut food waste by showcasing how food that might have gone unsold or unused can be transformed into gourmet dishes.
The culinary talent was truly exceptional this year, featuring some of Memphis’ most innovative chefs. The lineup included:
- Chef Kat Gordon from Muddy’s Bake Shop
- Chef Stephen Johnson from The Social – Hilton HQ Memphis
- Chef Daishu McGriff from Shroomlicious Meals
- Chef Josh Mutchnick from JEM Dining
- Chef Terrence Whitley from Inspire Community Cafe
- Chef Monique Williams from Biscuits & Jams
Attendees had the unique opportunity to mingle with these chefs while savoring their inventive dishes. Each bite offered a creative twist on food waste reduction, turning surplus ingredients into memorable culinary experiences.
No celebration is complete without a good drink, and Reharvest Memphis delivered on this front as well. Guests enjoyed a variety of complimentary beer, wine, cocktails, and other beverages, thanks to the skilled bartenders from Highball Memphis, a premier mobile bartending service. The festive atmosphere, complemented by delicious drinks, encouraged lively conversation and connection among attendees, all united by a shared passion for sustainability.

Building a more greener food system for all
Reharvest Memphis fuels PGF’s year-round efforts to reduce food waste and promote eco-friendly practices in Memphis. By transforming surplus ingredients into gourmet bites, we are cutting waste and raising awareness about the importance of mindful consumption.
All of PGF’s events are zero-waste, meaning that at least 90% of waste generated by the event is rerouted from landfills and put to good use. We’re proud to announce that Reharvest Memphis 2024 successfully rescued and donated 78.8 pounds of food to Merge Memphis and Sista 2 Sista, and achieved 96% diversion from the landfill – making it a successful zero waste event. Special thanks to Get Green Recycleworks and The Compost Fairy for partnering with us to achieve this goal.
This year’s event was a testament to the power of community collaboration. The funds raised will directly support PGF’s mission, enabling us to expand our food waste initiatives and support local food rescue organizations.
As we reflect on another successful Reharvest Memphis, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who made this event possible. Together, we are making strides toward a greener, more resilient food system for all in Memphis.
